CHAI Team

We strive for a world where all women—regardless of their background—are empowered, valued, and have access to the resources and opportunities they need to live fulfilling, independent lives.

our Story

The Women’s CHAI Project was founded in 2011 by Najma Khalid MBE on a voluntary basis, inspired by her lived experience of Domestic Abuse—over a simple cup of chai (tea), a symbol of connection and support. CHAI stands for Care, Help, and Inspire, reflecting our aim which is a commitment to facilitating a safe and inclusive space where women can empower themselves and their families. We provide a supportive environment where women can build confidence, develop skills, and create positive change. The project also raises awareness of wellbeing, ensuring mothers are better equipped to support their children, themselves, and their communities.
